A Grand Adventure

Well, where do I start? I guess it is just important TO start and not worry about when this begins, because I hope it never ends. In late spring my husband and I went to visit Colorado, the state he grew up in, and being from Northern Washington and then in Oregon for almost 15 years, we realized our mutual love of nature, small mountain towns, expansive views and community. I had been living in Santa Ana, CA for almost 5 years, a wonderful, vibrant and creative town, but it never felt like home to me. Although I see its purpose for that time in my life, it is where I met and married Brian, the most wonderful of humans who completely changed my life. I had never experienced such a love, such a partner and companion, and I have never laughed so much in my life. While visiting his fathers ranch in Dolores, CO we realized that now was our time to find our home, a place that was mutually new to both of us and engulfed all of the things we love and missed while in southern California. And so a grand plan was made.......full of drive and excitement we returned home, finished fixing our house, put it on the market, sold it, Brian quit his job of 15 years at a graphic design agency, we packed our house and within three months moved to our dream home of Paonia, CO. This gorgeous tiny mountain town on the west slope of Colorado is everything we searched for, no traffic lights, the organic growing capitol of the state, a vibrant and busy art scene, an amazing art center and gallery, a fun little movie house theatre, a beautiful library, fly fishing, oh and then theres the 9 wineries within a few miles of downtown. Needless to say this has been an amazing decision and we are so glad for the chaos and anxiety that helped us move forward and the gratitude we feel now as we settle into our new community. The studio is all set up and I have been painting daily along with the fun exploring of a new town and area, it is a real delight. Please follow along, I plan on making this blog a bit more of a lifestyle based journal, so I will be sharing fun adventures, recipes, odd projects, home improvements and of course lots of art and happening. Thank you for reading and joining in.
